I think this is the converlesant home i went to in the 1950s, it was run by nuns, each day we would attend mass, even if you were Church of England, and then school.
In the afternoon we had to rest on our beds for a while and we were allowed one packet of sweets from our cupboards and a comic.
At night when we slept.one of the nuns would sit in the glass fronted office with a candle and read her bible.
Mother superior was Sister Genevive, and. I can also remember a very young nun called Sister Remelda.
When my mother and farther came to Hastings on holiday for 2 weeks i was allowed to spend the day with them but had to retun to the home at night.
We came home on school holidays and would be escorted home and back by the red cross
