The Castle Library was ran by my ancestor, Albert Arthur Foster (1863-1941). On the 1901 Census, he is a widower living at 1 York Buildings (Castle Library) with his son, Conrad, daughter, Vera and an assistant. Albert's occupation is described as a stationer. He had been a school master. Albert also had a bookselling/renting business in Ventnor, the Isle of Wight prior to Castle Library but he may have ran both at the same time. Albert sold the Castle Library business in 1913. He was living with his third wife in Tunbridge Wells at this time.
