This is genuinely a very old pub, however, it hasn't always looked like this. The National Archives records that the front was rebuilt in 1931 and it may have been altered substantially since then. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but like many of the buildings in the old town it is not original. As recorded elsewhere, the Pump House was built in 1956 and is possibly the newest purpose built pub in town (The later Malvern at Broomgrove is no longer a pub); I believe No. 77 and 78 All saint's Street, which both look ancient, were built from new in the 1950s. Many other buildings in the Old Town have also been modernised and then backdated. Good fun for the tourists, but we locals are harder to fool.
